RNS Mobile Disco - Songs That Turn 10 In 2023 - The Female Wedding DJ

Do you ever hear a song and think "Wow, I haven't heard this in a while", proceed to google it and then find out it came out 10 whole years ago????

Music used to be so much better back then, back in 2013!!

Everyone loves some old school bangers at their events to get everyone on the dance floor and singing along.

So, shall we take a look at some songs that came out a whole 10 years ago!?

Below are 13 songs released in 2013 and I have detailed where I would put these songs in my own wedding (Yes, I'm already married but you know what I mean!)

One Direction - Best Song Ever

Well, I couldn't do this list without a bit of the biggest boyband in the world could I? One Direction released Best Song Ever in July 2013, from their album Midnight Memories.

Still to this day, this song gets requested. It is brilliant for an early reception song.

Disclosure - White Noise

Whenever I hear this song, I just think of sun sun sun... and a cold bottle of Budweiser. Disclosure are one of my favourite bands and AlunaGeorge are 2 of the coolest people in the world, so this track is always a 10/10 for me. Aluna has the most amazing voice and I don't think this song would have been anywhere near as popular without the distinctive voice.

I play this at most weddings and parties, it's perfect for your dance section a bit later on into the night.

Ellie Goulding - Burn

Another amazing voice, Ellie Goulding. A real Ellie throwback, released in 2013 form her album Halcyon Days. This doesn't get requested as much as some of her other tracks, but it is great for people to sing along to.

I tend to play this song in the early stages of an evening reception.

Fall Out Boy - My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark

Everyones favourite American band, well by everyones I mean mine. Save Rock And Roll is one of the very few albums that you can listen to every single track back to back, know all of the words and then want to start it again. What a song.

This is ALWAYS requested and is perfect for any little emo wedding, it is that good I would even have it as I walked down the aisle. Honestly, play it several times throughout your wedding day.

Duke Dumont - Need U 100%

Another dance classic that will get your guests up on the dance floor. Reminding me of summer as I sit staring out my window to.... snow. It has a slow start to the song but it is such a catchy song.

I would play this early on in the reception or during the wedding breakfast, even the drinks reception would be good to keep the vibe up. There's also some amazing remixes of this song to play later on in the evening.

Daft Punk - Get Lucky

Everyone has a soft spot for Daft Punk, don't they?

This is a slow song, does kind of drag on too so I would usually stick this in the wedding breakfast or very early on in the reception, within the first few songs.. if requested.

Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop

I do love this song, this era of Miley was quite cool... a real F U era that I strive to have the confidence of.

I would only play this song if it was requested or Miley was in the couples must play artists.

Drake - Started From The Bottom

Released in early 2013 (Yes, really) Drake's Started From The Bottom still goes strong over 10 years later.

This is usually asked to be in the drinks reception or as a request later on into the night when thing go wild and completely out of control music wise! I wouldn't personally play this unless I was asked.

Lady Gaga - Applause

Now, I love Gaga. Especially old Gaga. This is such an upbeat and fun song. Artpop isn't one of my favourite Gaga albums admittedly but there are some bangers on it.

I always play this at children's parties and do usually play this early on at wedding receptions. Gaga is always requested.

Pharrell Williams - Happy

Every song on this list, I have written about them whilst singing along but for this song I must admit I am not going near it. It is one of the most draining songs ever.

Always play it at children's parties and always play it really early on in a wedding reception if children are in attendance, because I know I will get asked for it anyway!

Avicii - Wake Me Up

A real emotional listen, remembering the late and great Avicii, Tim Bergling.

A real must for every event, it always goes down really well when it is late and everyone is drunk and emotional.

Bastille - Pompeii

This song really takes me back. Such an amazing voice and the lyrics are special.

Even till this day, it is always requested and I do play it quite often. Every children's party this is played and early on in wedding receptions as it is 9 out of 10 times requested by the couple.

Rudimental - Waiting All Night

I actually released a remix to this song, along with other artists. I love it and I think everyone else does.

Always play it late on in a wedding reception to get everyone singing and dancing along.

So there you have it, 13 random songs released in 2013... a whole 10 years ago!
