Back in August it was another day in Sheffield, my favourite place ever. Not only are the accents fxcking amazing but the views around the city are just so stunning. I love the rustic and dark theme of the place, when I retire and grow old, I'll live in Yorkshire!
Anyway, enough drooling over my favourite city to play in, I have another playlist for you all to sing along to and hopefully, help you choose some songs for your DJ to play on the night of your wedding!
When I set up my business my main niche was the fact I will play your favourite Emo, rock, indie kinda songs... I remember so much people saying it wouldn't work. Well, ya know how that turned out. I make it sooo clear to my couples, I will play YOUR music. If you don't want 5 hours of cheesey stuff or dancing tunes, stick some rock on instead! There's no point playing spice girls to people that would rather be listening to MCR is there? Really? **** I would totally listen to both, but you get my jist ****
When I first spoke to Eve & Danny I could tell it was going to be a spot on evening with some proper tunes to be played, and it truly didn't disappoint me...
ANYWAY.
I got them to send me a playlist of music they usually listen to, admittedly some I annoying didn't get played as we were having too much fun but the playlist I created was based on the one they'd sent me. Sometimes if an artist has a more popular song I'll play that first and read the room, or sometimes I'll play a different version of the song, it really does depend on the night and who is feeling what on the dancefloor.
I stuck to the "only play cheese or 80s if someone requests it" to try and stick to the vibe of the night, but of course it was requested! I've only ever had one wedding where it hasn't been requested! This time round it was requested by the funniest person I think I've ever met at a wedding, a lovely lady who like me is obsessed with Boy George!! We spent a good 20 mins talking about the 80s whilst she was dancing around the floor singing along to songs I was playing for her! She even booked me for their wedding, when they aren't even engaged! 🤣Everyone loves a bit of 80s don't they? Everyone around the room was singing along to a small selection that I had chosen!
A few of the songs were requests, but most would have been played anyway!
